Gjoa Project
Project no: 111
Project name: ABB AB High Voltage Rigid Submarine Cables
Project description: Tekmar Energy - Renewables
Project completion date: May 2009
Description of product
8-off 80 kNm TEKLINK® Bend Restrictors assemblies
StatoilHydro Gjøa links the new power plant at Mongstad, north of Bergen, Norway and Norwegian oil and gas company’s StatoilHydro Gjoa platform in the North Sea. This will be the first floating platform ever to have such a direct power link and as a result will reportedly reduce 250,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
Bend restrictors for the Gjoa Project, in which ABB are developing a rigid submarine cable joint to be used on a high voltage cable in the North Sea. The joint is approximately 6m in length and 0.65m in diameter. Bend restrictors are required as part of the scope to protect the cables in the subsea environment.
Client Requirement
Rigid submarine cable protection system for extended service life.
Tekmar solutions
Polyurethane (PU) bend restrictors.
